Best Restaurants In New York – Zengo

Located in the heart of Manhattan, Zengo is a magnificent three-level Latin American, Asian Fusion restaurant that offers a diversified and scrumptious menu designed for sharing; elaborated by Chef-Owner Richard Sandoval.

The place is out of this world. Surrounded by huge glass windows, the interior design is modern, chic and absolutely gorgeous. The lights are subdued at dinnertime, the tables are sufficiently separated so that you don’t feel like you’re a part of your neighbors’ conversations and you have some sort of privacy.

Zengo gave me the ultimate romantic vibe for all those reasons, but it’s also the perfect place to gather with friends and families, as ordering several meals to share is at the heart of restaurant’s concept and makes for the ideal way to kickstart an incredible night with loved ones.

It was our last night in New York and we wanted it to be a memorable one. We were exhausted from walking all day, to see and take in as much as we could from The City, before the long road back home that awaited us the next morning. The unforgettable dinner experience we had at Zengosurpassed all our expectations.

The food was divine (and I’m holding myself back from using bold, capital and a larger font size to write “divine”.): every dish we ordered, provided an explosion of so many flavors that were combined to utmost perfection. Divine.

Everything on the menu looked delicious, so we had to ask our waitress which were favorite things, to have an idea of what we should start with and as she suggested, we went for the Volcano and Spicy Lobster Sushi Rolls.

Believe me when I say I have never had such good sushi in my life. I love spicy food and had never tried spicy sushi; so the Spicy Lobster Roll was my personal favorite although I absolutely loved the Volcano too.

I have a serious addiction to guacamole and could eat this dish all day, everyday. So when I saw the Spicy Lump Crab Guacamole on the menu, which I thought was a genius twist to the typical recipe, I ordered it immediately and simply savored every bite of Tortilla Chips dipped in it.

I’m not much of a duck lover but my husband ordered the Duck Confit – Daikon Tacos and loved it.

Shanghai Strip Steak, ordered by my husband again. He said it was one of the best steaks he’s ever had, the veggies and gravy tasted divine. And the price for such a huge steak was reasonable.

Chicken Empanadas – LOVED!

Tres Leches – This is a Mexican dessert that I discovered that night and utterly died for! It feels really light in the mouth, it’s an airy, moist cake soaked in a combination of three milks. It’s not too sweet and I can’t even begin to describe how delicious it was!
