Montreal Hotels – Le Saint-Sulpice Hôtel

The hotel’s interior design is spectacular and truly blew my mind: once you’ve passed the front desk, the lobby looks like the chicest café you’ve ever been to; with a fireplace, small round marble tables surrounded by ever so comfortable chairs, brown leather sofas and fur pillows. The colors are warm and make for the perfect cozy spot to relax while sipping on a drink from the bar’s extensive choice of beverages, or a steaming cup of coffee, after a long day sightseeing.

Our suite was gorgeous, with a wood fireplace, which we were really impressed by, since it’s so rare to find hotel rooms with fireplaces in Montreal. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a romantic evening drinking wine, curled up under a blanket in a comfy sofa bed, in front of a fireplace? Exactly. We were sold from the get-go. The large window offered a beautiful view on the cobblestone streets of Old Montreal and, speaking of Old Montreal, the hotel is located at the heart of the old town, a few steps away from one of the City’s main attractions, the ever-so impressive Notre-Dame Basilica.

Generosity was the first word that came to my mind as I started writing the review of Le Saint-Sulpice Hôtel. The hotel’s employees were exceptional in making sure we had everything we could have possibly wanted. But this lasting impression of kindness, that marked both my husband and I, is largely due to the hotel’s restaurant owner, Gino Mourin, who welcomed us at dinner and with whom we got a chance to talk over the length of our dinner experience, which will be the topic of another article; but I’d like to insist on that point because whenever we get such great service, it gives us all the more reasons to recommend places we try.

Whenever we try hotels, we’re usually in a rush to film and take photos, especially the morning after our arrival. But this time, things were a little different and we could not have been happier about it. We were supposed to have the continental breakfast, that is normally reserved to the hotel’s guests, but the night before, at dinner, the hotel’s restaurant owner Gino, told us to order croissants and coffee in our room whenever we’d wake up and wait for the morning rush to pass to go have brunch at the restaurant at noon.

He said “we’re going to offer you a nice experience, far from the regular egg brunch people are used to serving”. It was, indeed, phenomenal.

Gino’s employees, who are responsible for the bar and the restaurant are just as warm and kind as he is. The tasting menu with wine pairing at dinner was exquisite…

…and mimosas were flowing at the delectable three-course deluxe brunch.

Now can everyone please take notes on how to receive guests? Because that was an experience we are not ready to forget.
