Montreal’s Best Cafés For A Date Or To Gather With Friends

image

To continue on The Coffee Shop Series, I want to write about the best cafés to bring a date or to simply gather with friends over a latte and delicious pastries.

The places are intimate and make exquisite coffee with great coffee art, which is obviously an important criterion, when picking your favorite cafés, right? 😉

Pikolo Espresso Bar

You’ll literally feel like you’re in a bar, but with a more relaxed ambiance. Tucked in Parc Avenue, this small café is home to one of the best lattes I’ve had in Montreal. The high tables for two that occupy the main floor, make of Pikolo Espresso Bar the ideal place for a date, or to catch up with a friend: it’s intimate, although always busy; not to mention the coffee art completely won me over. Pikolo Espresso Bar’s coffee comes from Canadian roasters and micro-torréfacteur Saint-Henri, which I talk about in the next point.

The only reason why this café didn’t make it to the Montreal’s Best Cafés To Study Or Work post, is because there is no WiFi.

Saint-Henri Micro-Torréfacteur

And the award for best latte in Montreal goes to… Saint-Henri Micro-Torréfacteur. We were in a hurry and grabbed a latte that was to die for over the weekend. The place is relatively small but super luminous, which I love. You can sit at a table or on one of these church seats that make for an extraordinary ambiance. The Barista was really good and again, the lattes were divine. Their coffee beans are roasted directly in the shop and they sell their coffee to many other restaurants, cafés and companies. A must try!

Olive & Gourmando

This is by far one of my favorite places. I simply love the interior design and the ambiance that has been created. The large board behind the counter reads the menu, beautifully written and presented in various fonts and colors that seem to pop from everywhere, having you wonder where you should start reading and the counter is full of pastries and other products.
Often frequented by workers, Olive & Gourmando is always full and for a reason: they make super tasty sandwiches and warm beverages. You’ll love the subdued light and special decoration that are perfect for a romantic link up or to meet up with friends. The staff provides great customer service.
