Vancouver Best Hotels – Skwachays Lodge

The charming boutique hotel won us over from the moment we interacted with the front desk agent as we checked in.

Located in the heart of Vancouver, at the crossroads of three must-see districts: mind-blowing Chinatown, that I would have died to explore more; Railtown and my personal favorite, Gastown. Skwachays Lodge offers hospitality like no other: the hotel’s employees are the epitome of excellent customer service and utmost sweetness and kindness, which automatically made us feel like we had made the right decision as to where we’d spend our next four nights in the City. Skwachays Lodge is Canada’s first Aboriginal arts hotel and 100% of its profits are given back to the non-profit Vancouver Native Housing Society as well as local Aboriginal community.

Each room is themed; ours was called the Poem Suite and its walls were punctuated by stunning drawings and poetry that reflect the mythological relationship between humans and nature. I need to mention the peppermint-scented Mother Earth bath products that I absolutely adored, and the utmost comfort of the bed and beddings that made rolling out of bed on those early morning wake up calls to explore Vancouver quite difficult. Our room was tidied every single day, which was amazing. All suites at the hotel feature complimentary WiFi, cordless telephones with voicemail, 43” plasma TV’s, HD cable with movie channels, music docking station, alarm clock, hairdryer, microwave, fridge, iron and full size ironing board.

Skwachays Lodge offers Complimentary breakfast in the super cozy lounge: Fruits, coffee, juices, delicious cakes, jelly, along with yummy yogurts made for an amazing way to kick off our days in the City.

Upon entrance in the hotel can be found the Aboriginal arts gallery, where gorgeous paintings, jewelry, cards, magnificent sculptures, masks and shoes can be purchased.

Our stay at Skwachays Lodge was incredible and I highly recommend this hotel. The service was impeccable and I still can’t get over how sweet everyone was, from the moment we entered the hotel, to the day we checked out. It’s been a one of a kind experience that we are not ready to forget any time soon.
