Me, as I left Lyon, France, for Barcelona

Have you ever wondered what your life would be like if you had the chance to land your dream job for a short period of time? Well, Dream Jobbing is the answer to your prayers.

WHAT IS DREAM JOBBING?

Founded by travel enthusiasts and entertainment industry veterans Alex Boylan (winner of The Amazing Race 2, TV Show Host and Producer), Lisa Hennessy (TV Producer) and Burton Roberts (Co-founder alongside Boylan, of Around The World Production and TV Show Host), Dream Jobbing is a U.S based multi-media platform that aims at providing people, typically aged between 18 to 35 years old, with life changing chances to land their dream job.

The company offers once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to work in the entertainment industry, such as being Social Buzz Reporter for VH1 Big Morning Buzz Live in New York (1 week), or On Screen Talent for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil (12-17 days); six months to a year full-time positions in the coolest companies like Club Med, Pixar, Teen Vogue;  as well as internships, and volunteering missions in the U.S, or abroad.

WHO CAN APPLY?

Applicants from all over the world are accepted.

HOW TO APPLY?

  1. Sign up to Dream Jobbing’s website and fill out your profile.
  2. Post an under one minute video of yourself showcasing your skills for the position of your dream and explaining why you would be the best candidate.
  3. When submissions for a position are closed, voting starts. The more likes you get on your video, the better your chances at scoring your dream job.
  4. The top 12 videos are chosen.
  5. Finally, the winner is picked based on their video, the number of votes they obtained and how well they did at the interview.

WHY IS IT A GREAT OPPORTUNITY?

The opportunity to travel to the most gorgeous places like Thailand, Brazil, New York or California, for instance, is obviously one of DreamJobbing’s greatest assets. However, the main reason why I am beyond excited about this company, is because it really gives you a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience your dream job; especially if you have a talent, but don’t possess any professional or academic background related to the position you covet, and/or want to work in the entertainment industry that is particularly hard to enter.
This experience will give you valuable insight into a world that you’ve always fantasized about and may not have been able to penetrate otherwise, and enables you to figure out whether you really want to pursue a career in this field or not.

Had I had this opportunity in my early twenties, I would have jumped on it!

When I was younger and living between Senegal and France, I dreamed of living and working in New York and wanted to study fashion designing, journalism or art. I ended up completing a bachelor’s in Economics and Management, followed by a master’s degree in Marketing and Sales. I hated it. I would have died to land an internship, a summer job, or a two-week position as a writer for a fashion magazine during christmas, or easter. Heck, I wouldn’t have minded being the “coffee girl” for a fashion publication, provided I had a foot in this world. But I was fully aware that there was no way I could ever score a position as a writer since I didn’t possess relevant academic background to support my potential application as a writer and umm, needless to say I couldn’t apply for a “Coffee Girl” position. A company like Dream Jobbing could have provided me with the chance to fulfill my dream!
