A huge announcement has been made today by Stanford University, related to the launch of the Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program, which is a graduate-level scholarship that aims at training “the new generation of leasers”. Every year, 100 students across the world will be able to benefit from this grant, completely gratuitously.

Year after year, Stanford is listed among the 3 best Universities in the world and has educated some of the greatest leaders, such as the founders of Google, LinkedIn, Yahoo! and Hewlett-Packard.

In honor of its 125th anniversary, the University has declared this Wednesday, the creation of the Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program, which is named after Philip H. Knight, former MBA student at Stanford and co-founder of Nike, and John L. Hennessy, who is the University’s current president.

The program will admit every year 100 high-achieving students “with demonstrated leadership and civic commitment, who are nominated by their undergraduate universities” and will provide them with funding for three years to pursue master’s or doctorate level degrees, or professional programs as well as education in leadership, innovation and other courses established to perfect scholars’ ability to lead in a world of constant change.

The $750 million allocation will fully cover students’ graduate education, which amounts to $65,000 annually, as well as their living expenses.

Applications will be open in summer 2017, and the program will welcome its first scholars in fall 2018. Note that applicants must have completed at least three years of undergraduate education in order to be eligible.

“We wanted to create something enduring, that would be unlike anything else currently available to the world’s brightest minds, and that would make the biggest impact possible toward solving global challenges affecting the environment, health, education and human rights. We will bring together outstanding, courageous scholars to benefit from Stanford’s innovative educational environment, who then go on to lead governments, businesses, nonprofits and other complex organizations and develop creative solutions to effect positive change,” said Stanford President John Hennessy, who will be the program’s director after quitting his current position as president.

Okay, how AWESOME is that?! If you’re eligible or will be eligible by summer 2017, then I highly highly highly recommend you look into their website for more information. (link below)

If you’re in your first year of undergrad, take your studies seriously and study hard to be eligible for this scholarship. It really is the chance of a lifetime!
