Best Sushi In Quebec City – Nicky Sushi

If you think about it, there aren’t many addresses for healthy eating in nice restaurants, unless you live in New York City, of course. I find that Sushi is always a great option for that matter. But with so many restaurants dedicated to the Japanese dish, you have to make sure you pick the right one not to be disappointed in the end. I never value restaurants’ online ratings as much as when I try to find a good Sushi place.

After a long day out in the cold, taking advantage of the beautiful nature surrounding Quebec City and dog sledding for the afternoon, we were craving some relaxing time in our hotel room and found this incredible Sushi restaurant that offered take-out and home delivery: Nicky Sushi. Instead of having the food delivered to our hotel, I chose to pick it up directly at the eatery because I’d heard the restaurant was popular for their “Sushi River” and cocktail bar, and my curious self wanted to see what it was all about. I LOVED the Sushi River concept (I HAVE to get back and experience this first hands): you basically sit around a huge oval bar, while small boats on which are placed small sushi plates (one sushi per boat) “flow” or circle around the “river” (the bar). If you see a sushi that looks tempting to you, you simply pick it up and place it in front of you. How cool!?

You also have the option of sitting on a table if you prefer. As far as the gorgeous cocktail bar is concerned, I haven’t tried it myself yet, but I’ve heard it serves some pretty incredible drinks! After clicking a few photos of the sushi river and the bar, we grabbed the sushi we had ordered beforehand and devoured them in our hotel room. The quality of the food was simply insane. I would go as far as saying that these were the best sushi I’ve ever had. I don’t know how else to describe the fantastic culinary experience we lived. I absolutely love how creative the Chef got with the unusual ingredients for sushi and recipes. The fish was fresh and incredibly tender, the balance of textures and flavors was absolutely perfect and the presentation was beautiful. It felt like we were having a gastronomic Sushi experience and made for one of the most beautiful nights of our stay in Quebec City! My only request is: Please open a restaurant in Montreal!

I highly recommend this place if you’re in Quebec City! For more information, check out their website:  https://www.nickysushi.com/
